December Wrap-Up

It’s January!!! We’ve not had the best start to the year but let’s hope that it can only get better.

I had a massive reading slump in December because I was so busy. I didn’t want to start any new books because I didn’t have time to even finish the ones I already started. This month I already feel I have more time and with us being in lockdown again, I have even more time to sit and read which is good.

December Books

Love Almost by Hayley Doyle

Although I had a very busy month, I did have time to start catching up with my NetGalley! I ended up really enjoying the story and I admit to tearing up a few times. The start was a bit slow for me but I managed to get into the actual tragic love story!

The Cousins by Karen M. McManus

The Cousins is one of my favourite books in 2020! It’s a great young adult mystery&thriller with plenty of suspenseful twists to keep you on the edge of your seat. I highly recommend this and also McManus’ other books if you love a good mystery.

World War Z by Max Brooks

This was another of my top books of 2020. If you don’t already know I’m a big fan of the zombie apocalypse, and love books, films, television shows, games and anything to do with it really. So I can’t believe it took me so long to eventually take this off my bookshelf. It was great and I loved reading it from start to finish.

The Devil and the Dark Water by Stuart Turton

The Devil and the Dark Water took me by a big surprise at the end of 2020. I didn’t expect to like it, actually love it, as much as I did! This is a very creepy thriller and on more than one occasion, I got a really eerie feeling in my stomach. It was a lot of fun to read, I loved all the characters and also trying to solve the supernatural mystery!

Amari and the Night Brothers by B.B. Alston

So wow this book! I just need to start off by telling you all to go read it. It’s such a fun, magical, adventurous book that I simply couldn’t put down. It made me forget all of the problems we were facing in 2021 just for a bit. I really didn’t expect to love it as much as I did and I really hope you do if you decide to read it!

January TBR

A Sparrow Alone by Mim Eichmann

A Sparrow Alone is another blog tour and I just posted my review yesterday actually! The author didn’t spare many details of how women and young girls were treated in the nineteenth century. Despite the slow start I had with it, I ended up really enjoying it and definitely recommend to any historical fiction lovers out there!

The Unadjusteds by Marisa Noelle

Another blog tour hosted by The Write Reads starts on the 11th January! I’m a big fan of dystopian novels and this one seems really interesting so I had to sign up! I actually won these two books in a giveaway so thank you The Write Reads and Marisa Noella for a copy of the first and second book in the series!

Murder on the Orient Express and The Murder of Roger Ackroyd by Agatha Christie

I have two books for our buddy read this month and they are both Agatha Christie! I am beyond excited to finally start my Christie collection as I’m reminded nearly every day just how good her books are, especially these two.
