Meet The Book Blogger

Hello Everyone!! I hope you are all doing well? It’s about time I did a Meet the Book Blogger post on my blog seeing as I’ve been here for over a year consistently now! I found these questions so hard because there are so many characters and books that I love. Anyway, here you go!

Thank you Stephen from Stephen Writes for tagging me, if you don’t already follow his amazing blog and socials, go do that now because he is the best!

Who is your all-time favourite book character?

This is only the first question and it’s already too hard. I’ve really thought about this and I am going with Jace from The Mortal Instruments. This was one of the first series I read many years ago and I just loved Jace’s character. I’m a big fan of the confident, cocky male characters and Jace is a perfect example of this.

If you were stranded on a desert island, which book would you take with you? (Survival books do not count)

This is a very tricky and cruel question. Why do I only get one? I would have to take a stand-alone book because If I took any book from a series, I would just want to read the rest. Now I’m just about to contradict myself because I would probably take A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder. This is a book I could read over and over again. I love all the characters, the mystery and the writing style. Especially the logs that Pip writes. I just love this book and I feel like I would pick something new up every time I read it.

What’s your most unpopular book opinion?

I have been racking my brain for this question and nothing comes to mind. I have to agree with Stephen and say I do think some films and TV shows are better than the book. One example is Normal People by Sally Rooney, I enjoyed the tv show so much compared to the book even though it was a really good book.

What’s your weirdest bookish habit?

I don’t really think I have any weird habits, I mean I probably do but I don’t think they’re weird! The thing I do the most is just reorganising my bookcase whenever I get bored. That is a lot of the time. It’s currently organised by genre which I am loving at the moment but I’m sure I will move it all around again soon.

What character would you bring to a family event as your fake partner?

I recently read Mina and the Undead, which one is an amazing YA horror and two has the best character, Jared. I love him. He’s so respectful and kind and has a good sense of humour. I’m sure in Jared’s current state (read the book!) there would be a lot to talk about! I really would love to bring him home to a family event.

What made you decide to start a book blog?

I started reading a lot more during Uni and wanted somewhere to put all my thoughts on the books I read, instead of just going from one book to another. Obviously, the more work I had at Uni the less time I had for blogging and It just kind of dropped off. So February 2019 I decided to start it back up and I’ve made so many blogger friends, my writing has massively improved and it’s a nice escape from real life.

What about reading and books do you love the most?

I just love books. I could sit and stare at my bookcases for ages, they just make me so happy 😂. What I love about reading is I find it really easy to get lost in the sorry or the characters. I have a vivid imagination and I get overly attached to characters so I love being able to get the most out of the majority of the books I read. Recently I’ve been picking up books that I wouldn’t usually and ended up really loving them. So I love being able to find new genres and authors as well.

What is your field of study/desired profession/current profession?

My job currently is as a Digital Content Assistant and I absolutely love it. I have learnt so much and have made the best friends working here. I’ve been here about a year and a half now and my skills are always developing and getting better. I am now creating websites for the company and doing more graphic design which is amazing to me as I love it so much.

What are some book recommendations that became your favourites/obsessions?

I was recommended to read A Court of Thorns and Roses series so much and I saw it everywhere. There was so much hype around it, it kind of put me off. Oh, am I glad I picked it up now!! I’m moving onto the third book in the series but I’m trying to pace myself so I don’t read it too quickly and I am doing very well.

What is the book you shove down everyone’s throat?

If you didn’t guess already, I am constantly shoving A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder down everyone’s throats. I am just shouting about it non stop, everyone needs to read this series. If you read it now, it’s perfect timing for the last book in the trilogy that comes out in August!

This took me ages to write because I kept changing my answers, but I’m posting it and not changing it anymore! I’ve tagged a few people below to take part in the Meet the Book Blogger Tag!

These are excellent responses. I have to agree that some films/ tv adaptations are not as good as their book counterparts but then films/ tv series are different leagues on their own. It’s also inherent that in reading we build the ‘perfect’ atmosphere in our heads with the help of the words we read so the visual representation in the film/ tv might be so limited. Like you, I also tend to be overly attached to characters. I’m still salty about what happened to Sirius Black lol. I’m tagging myself to this post ^_^
