Naughty or Nice Tag
Merry Christmas Eve everyone! Who else is excited for the big day tomorrow?!? I know I have a few books wrapped under the Christmas tree and I’m trying to find the strength not to open them until tomorrow. I saw a lot of people do the Naughty or Nice Tag so I thought I would give it ago and I think it’s a very fitting post for Christmas eve!
The book tag originally comes from Jenniely so make sure to check out her blog as well!
Received an ARC and not reviewed it
Yes
I have no willpower when it comes to books and I love helping out authors by reading and reviewing. But sometimes there is just not enough time in the day to get through everything!
Have less than 60% feedback rating on NetGalley
No
Right now my feedback ratio is 60% and I’ve done really well to get that up from like 33% because it feels like I have never-ending books to read on NetGalley. Not that I’m complaining! I just need more time in the day to read them all.
Rated a book on Goodreads and promised a full review was to come on your blog (and never did)
No
Once I’ve read a review I will start writing it nearly straight away so I only post a review on Goodreads once it is on my blog. Here’s a cheeky link if you want to add me on Goodreads!
Folded down the page of a book
Yes
I always used to do this and it pains me to think about. I don’t mind when pages get bent accidentally because it makes the book feel used and unique. But I would never dog ear a page now!
Accidentally spilled on a book
Yes
If you didn’t know, I’m extremely clumsy. I spill drinks all the time and I even broke my Macbook earlier in the year by spilling a full cup of tea on it. It really wasn’t good. I’ve never completely drenched a book with a spillage but I have had the odd occasion where I needed to clean a cover or two.
DNF a book this year
Yes
I did really well this year with my reading, but it has slowly dropped off towards the end of the year because I’m so busy. I started reading The Beeker of Aleppo and The Guest List, I didn’t get that far through them. So when I come to read them again when I have more time, I’m just going to start them again.
Bought a book purely because it was pretty with no intention of reading it
Yes
I’ve only done this with collectors additions. But I’ve nearly always already read the book before getting the pretty edition.
Read whilst you were meant to be doing something else (like homework)
Yes
All the time. SOmetimes I feel really guilty when I’m just sat reading, knowing I have about 101 things to do. But this quickly goes away if it’s a really good book!
Skim read a book
Yes
I started to realised I think this is why I read so fast because I skim read a lot of pages. Half the time I’m like hold up, I need to read that again because I just skipped over it haha!
Completely missed your Goodreads goal
Yes
This is the first year I have took my Goodreads goal seriously and I’m still short by about 10 books! I’m going to stick with 50 again next year and I’m positive i’m going to complete it in 2021!
Borrowed a book and not returned it
Yes
I may be guilty of this for a couple of books. I definitely know there is a library book on my bookshelf that I completely forgot about. It is definitely too late to take that back now though!
Broke a book buying ban
Yes
What’s a book ban? I’m so bad for saying I’ll wait until next month to get some new books and then I browse a bit online and go down the book aisle when I go shopping and BAM! There are books in the basket. Oops! So yes, I have. The question should definitely be – have you stuck to your book-buying ban?!
Started a review, left it for ages then forgot what the book was about
No
Like I said before I usually write myt reviews straight away after reading or a couple of days after. Sometimes I have forgotten a few details but never what the book is about.
Wrote in a book you were reading
Yes
I recently finished World War Z by Max Brooks and it was quite scary how some things are similar in the book to real-life right now. Obviously minus the zombies walking about. But I’ve highlighted a few things that are weirdly similar in terms of vaccines, the government and the public reactions.
Finished a book and not added it to your Goodreads
Yes
I have done this this year only because I had a secret book to read for BBNYA. I joined the panel quite late on to give everyone a hand and I’m so glad I did because I loved the book that I read!
Dodged someone asking if they can borrow a book
Yes
I don’t mind borrowing my books, to family and friends as I want them to enjoy reading just as much as I do if they have the time. But sometimes I’m worried they will get damaged so I have dodged the bullet a few times.
Broke the spine of someone else’s book
No
I can’t think of anything worse!! I wouldn’t do it to my own, nevermind someone else’s.
Took the jacket off a book to protect it and ended up making it more damaged
No
I always take the jackets off my hard back books because I love the covers underneath and I find it extremely annoying when I’m reading and the jacket keeps slipping. But I have never damaged a book more by doing this. I actually take better care of them without the jackets on.
Sat on a book accidentally
Yes
All the time. I just leave books everywhere. I’ve sat on them, stood on them, even kicked them across the room. But it’s okay if I do it, nobody else!
Number of YES answers: 14
Number of NO answers: 5
So I didn’t make it on the Nice List which is sad because it’s Christmas tomorrow! But buying new books can fix anything, which I may or may not be doing…
I’m not going to tag anyone as a lot of people have done this but if you feel free to have ago while we are still in in the festive spirit!
Comments
I am the same I always feel guilty reading (when I have other things to do) but it very quickly vanishes if the book is a good one! Great post, loved your answers! x
Fun tag! I’m notorious for not reviewing books right away – I really should get better at that. I have spilt things on books before, and dog-eared pages, but thankfully not too often.
