The Awesome Blogger Award

This is a very exciting post as it’s my first blogger award! I was kindly nominated for The Awesome Blogger Award by Luci from lucibarker.co.uk, so go and check out her gorgeous blog!

Question One
When did you start your blog?

I started my blog in 2016 in my first year of university. I was reading a lot of books and didn’t really have anyone to talk to about them or anywhere to put my thoughts. My workload increased in my second year and I couldn’t find the time to blog anymore so I took a break. 4 years later and here we are!

Question Two
Do you regret the name of your blog?

I actually changed the name once I started blogging again this year. It used to be called Ellie Mai Books as it was primarily book reviews I posted. This year when I started it up again, I decided I wanted to try new things such as travel and lifestyle posts. So I feel Ellie Mai Blogs just sums everything up.

Question Three
How do you cope with writer’s block?

I get writers block all the time, especially with my book reviews. I can never find the right words to sum up what I am trying to say. To cope with this I usually walk away from the post I’m writing and do something else for an hour. This is usually playing on the PS4, watching a TV show or Youtube.

Question Four
What or who wanted you to make your blog?

My ex-boyfriend in uni was very good with creating websites and he mentioned about setting one up for me. I was very eager to learn after this and wanted to get started straight away. I needed somewhere to post my thoughts on all the books I’ve read and this was perfect.

Question Five
What’s your favourite food?

Mexican food, especially burritos have been my favourite food for a good few years now. I never pass up the opportunity to make/order them. My favourite burrito place is Casa Mexica in Manchester, they are a small, authentic Mexican restaurant with great burritos and tequila.

Question Six
What’s your favourite perfume?

I rarely wear perfume, I prefer to use body sprays such as Victoria Secret. But the perfume I wear to go out on special occasions (not that I’m doing much of that right now) is Viva La Juicy, Juicy Couture and I love it. It’s a nice fruity fragrance that isn’t too strong!

Question Seven
What makeup brand do you have the most products from?

I have a lot of soap and glory makeup products, especially eyeliners, mascara and blush. But for eyeshadow, I have a lot of morphe pallets that I absolute adore and love practicing new eye looks with.

Question Eight
Who’s your favourite Youtuber?

I don’t really have one favourite YouTuber, I watch a variety of different ones like Glam and Gore, PewDiePie, Sophdoesnails and penguinz0 also known as Cr1TiKal. If I had to choose one from the list, it would probably be Glam and Gore. She’s just so talented!

Question Nine
What’s your dream job?

My dream job has always been to work as a camera operator on a David Attenborough Documentary. I love the cinematography of all the shots they use and I’m fascinated by what they are able to capture and create.

Question Ten
Do you wish you started blogging earlier?

I wish I carried my blog on from 2016, rather than taking a break. It would have been nice to see how my blog would have grown, rather than starting again in 2020.
