Top 5 Most Anticipated Fantasy Books 2023

Happy Friday everyone! Whose excited for the weekend because I really am! I did a massive pre-order a few weeks ago and I need to talk about some of the fantasy books I so excited for that are coming out soon. October is going to be a great month because nearly all of the ones I am waiting for come out then! Just a quick sorry to my bank account in advance. Anyway lets get onto my top 5 most anticipated fantasy books for 2023.

1. A Curse for True Love by Stephanie Garber (Once Upon A Broken Heart #3)

Release Date: October 24th 2023.

This quickly became one of my favourite series of all time. Evangeline s such a good and cute character, Jacks is the perfect morally grey character and has a special place in my heart now. I can’t believe how the second book in this series ends and we’ve all had to wait this long to finally see how it ends! I am actually desperate to find out how it all gets tied up and there is definitely a big book hangover coming after this. If you haven’t read it and love fantasies you need to pick this up. I will be doing a re-read of the first two books soon to get myself ready for the finale!!

2. Two Twisted Crowns by Rachel Gillig (The Shepherd Kind #2)

Release Date: October 19th 2023.

One Dark Window came in one of my monthly Fairy Loot boxes and read it a couple weeks after getting it because it seemed really interesting. I love it when you go into a book not really knowing what it is about and then get completely invested. That’s what happened to me with this book. I read it so quickly because the story was so unique and imaginative. This also has to be one of the biggest cliffhangers I’ve read in a book so I am very impatiently waiting for this sequel. I highly recommend the first book if you are looking for a different type of fantasy book that is unlike any other. It has a lot of action, magic, romance and great characters! I especially love the magic system in this book as it is all revolved around these providence cards that all contain different types of magic. I’m really looking forward to seeing more about this in the next book.

3. Foxglove by Adalyn Grace (Belladonna #2)

Release Date: August 22nd 2023.

Belladonna quickly became one of my favourite fantasies this year.  Signa is such a great character and I love how she can see spirits and death. There were a lot of great characters and the mystery within the book was super exciting to read about. I can’t wait to see how the story carries on now. The sequel comes out in a couple of weeks so you better get a move on with the first book!

4. Iron Flame by Rebecca Yarros (The Empyrean #2)

Release Date: October 31st 2023.

Rebecca Yarros has taken the book community by storm and created such a fun, engaging and impactful fantasy book that I’m sure we can all agree will be on a lot of people’s anticipated releases list. Words cannot describe how excited I am for this book. I love the characters, the sassy dragons, the spicy romance and I just need to read more of it please.

5. Sword Catcher by Cassandra Clare

Release Date: October 10th 2023.

I love Cassandra Clare but I haven’t kept up to date with many of her recent releases over the past few years. I was obsessed with The Mortal Instruments and I think Jace might even have been one of my first book boyfriends. This then led me to The infernal devices and I’ve lost count with how many times I’ve read these two series. After that though I haven’t read the other Shadowhunter series. However, when I found out that she is bringing out her first adult fantasy book I jumped on it and pre-ordered. I love her writing and I am super excited to read this.

There are loads more books that I’m excited for coming out this year but I would say these are my top 5 most anticipated fantasy books for the second half of 2023. Let me know if any of these are on your list and if not which ones are!
