Goodreads Synopsis

From its creepy town mascot to the story of its cursed waterfall, Burden Falls is a small town dripping with superstition. Ava Thorn knows this well – since the horrific accident she witnessed a year ago, she’s been plagued by nightmares.

But when someone close to her is brutally murdered and Ava is the primary suspect, she starts to wonder if the legends surrounding the town are more fact than fiction.

Whatever secrets Burden Falls is hiding, there’s a killer on the loose, and they have a vendetta against the Thorns…

My Review

Wicked Little Deeds is my first Kat Ellis book and it really didn’t disappoint. It has everything I could ask for and more including horrifying deaths, supernatural twists, a small creepy town and even a bit of romance! I read it so quickly and just love absolutely every aspect of this extremely addicting mystery.

Ava Thorne has been having a very difficult time since the car crash last year that killed her parents, and things definitely aren’t going to be getting any easier. Not in Burden Falls. With Ava having to move out of her family home, her Uncle selling it to the family enemy, It’s hard not to feel sorry for her and get attached to her character. What tops everything off is she is the prime suspect in these gruesome murders in the town that seem more supernatural than anything.

I don’t know why I am such a big fan of blood, gore and creepiness when it comes to mystery and horrors but in the small town of Burden Falls, there is certainly a lot of it. I was also surprised to see how spine-chilling the myth of Dead-Eyed Sadie actually was yet I loved every second of it. Kat Ellis has really created such a dark and horror-filled atmosphere that really pulls you into the story and a mystery that will keep you guessing until the very end.

We are given a lot of background about a lot of the characters but it most importantly puts you on Team Ava straight away. I thought she was such a brave and strong character, you can’t help but root for her throughout the book. Domonic is another great character and I love the relationship that blossoms between him and Ava. I always love a good bit of romance but I was so glad it wasn’t too overpowering in the story or take away from the eeriness of the whole story.

Overall, Wicked Little Deeds is a very chilling and addicting YA mystery full of murder and mayhem. The author has gone into so much detail regarding the town, characters and even the deaths until you can’t think about anything else apart from this book. I am in love with this book and everything that comes with it, I wish I could forget it all and read it again without knowing. If you love dark, creepy murder mysteries with constant twists you have to read this book, you won’t regret it!
